REGISTER TODAY FOR SPRING ACADEMY SESSIONS

Updated: Apr 2

Academy programming is being offered on Wednesday evenings this spring.

Coaches instructing at these sessions have experience at the elite youth, high school, and university level.

We will be offering two programs this spring:

Improving Individual Basketball Skills

These sessions focus on developing the basic ABCs of sport (Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed) and fundamental basketball skill development, including:

·       Footwork

·       Shot Preparation

·       Shooting Mechanics

·       Ball Handling

·       Passing

·       Decision Making

·       Attacking the Basket & Finishing

Interested players, especially those at the grade 4/5 level, do not need to have a great deal of experience to take part. The most important factor when participating in our Academy program is being dedicated to improvement and committed to attending the scheduled sessions.

Shooting, Attacking & Finishing - How to become a complete offensive player

These sessions focus on the development of shooting and how to transition those skills into a game setting. Players will also be taught 1 on 1 skills off both the catch and dribble, attacking the basket and finishing moves.

TCYBA QUICK LINKS

The Tri-City Youth Basketball Association (TCYBA) was formed in 1999 and is a volunteer-driven registered not-for-profit that serves the youth of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody (Tri-Cities), New Westminster, Burnaby and surrounding areas in British Columbia, Canada. Currently, we have well over 2000 players, from Kindergarten to grade 12, playing in various divisions including both competitive Elite programs and recreational play. We offer academies, camps, official's development paths and coaching clinics in partnership with various local, provincial and national partners. Open to both boys and girls, the club operates out-of-school gyms across the Tri-City area and strives to ensure all youth that want to enjoy the sport have an opportunity to participate. We believe that youth sport is critical to a child's development and the opportunity to build skills for both the sport and for life should be available to all of our community's youth.
