  • Fall / Winter Development League (Grade 2-12)

    TCYBA Development League Fall / Winter 2020-21 Registration

    $30 Non-Refundable Deposit

    We will be changing how we collect registration fees this year. We understand not everyone may be in a financial position to make basketball costs a priority so we will only be collecting a $30 non-refundable deposit with your registration, which will secure your child’s place on the team.     PHASE 1: June 1 to June 7

    Returning Players registering to their same team from Fall / Winter 2019-20  

    Players wishing to change teams or who played Spring only, will be required to register during Phase 2

    PHASE 2: June 9 to June 14

    Returning Players from Fall / Winter 2019-20 and Spring 2020 may register to any team with available space

    If your child is new to TCYBA or did not play in the Fall / Winter 2019-20 or was registered for the Spring 2020 season please do not register during this phase of registration. You can register beginning June 16.

    PHASE 3: June 16 - Ongoing to September

    Phase 3 is available for New Players and returning players who did not register during phase 1 or 2

    New players to TCYBA must register in the division where the grade they are entering in September is the higher grade listed in the team description – for example a new Grade 5 player to TCYBA must register at the Grade 4/5 level. Grade 4’s registering at the Grade 4/5 level must already have played at least one season in TCYBA and be physically ready to play with others that are their age and older.

    The same eligibility process applies to all age groups.

    For all phases of registration, your registration receipt, generated by our registration site Stack Sports, is not a confirmation of placement on a team. It is strictly to let you know we have received your application detailing the team information you are requesting. No registration is complete until you receive a second registration confirmation email from Stack Sports.

    PHASE 1: February 5 to February 9

    Returning Players registering to their same team from Fall / Winter 2020-21 

    Players wishing to change teams, will be required to register during Phase 2. Players that registered to play Spring 2020 will register during Phase 3

    PHASE 2: February 11 to February 16  

    Returning Players from Fall / Winter 2020-21 may register to any team with available space

    Players that registered to play Spring 2020 may register in Phase 3 starting February 18. New Players may register starting March 1.

    PHASE 3: February 18 to February 26

    Returning Players that registered to play Spring 2020 may register to any team with available space

    If you did not play / register in Spring 2020 or Fall / Winter 2020-21 you may begin registering on March 1

    New Player Registration: March 1  - Ongoing to April

    As of March 1 registration will be open to New Players and Returning Players

  • Camps, Clinics & Academies


    Tri-City Youth Basketball Grade 7/8 Prep Division Skill Development Academy Sessions

    Players registered at the Grade 7/8 level participate in Tri-City Youth Basketball Association’s High School Prep Division program. At this level, participants take part in a practice and a game using full high school rules each week. They also have access to register in a minimum of four Skill Development / Performance Academy sessions at no additional cost each Fall. 

    These academy sessions are structured to develop and enhance player's individual skills, focusing on:

    • Footwork
    • Shot Preparation
    • Shooting Mechanics
    • Ball Handling
    • Passing
    • Decision Making

    Head Coaches for TCYBA’s academy programs include Anthony Luyken and Joe Enevoldson. Anthony and Joe have both served as Canada Basketball / BBC Centre for Performance and Basketball BC Provincial Team coaches in the past. Coach Luyken is a former Assistant Coach at the University of the Fraser Valley and Coach Enevoldson is the former Head Coach at Douglas College and has recently been named the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at UFV.

    Additional assistant coaches may be taking part in the academy sessions to ensure that an appropriate coach to player ratio is maintained. The most important factor in participating in the Academy program is to simply be dedicated to improvement and committed to attend the scheduled sessions. 

    Fall 2020 sessions are cancelled at this time due to the current COVID-19 situation. Sessions will resume again in Fall 2021.


    Tri-City Youth Basketball 2020 Holiday Hoops Camps

    The Tri-City Youth Basketball Association will once again be offering our popular Holiday Hoops camps from December 28 – 30, 2020.

    We welcome boys and girls from Grades 3-8 of all skill levels to attend our holiday camp sessions.

    The TCYBA Holiday Hoops camps are designed for players looking to develop and improve their athleticism and basketball skills. These camps focus on developing the basic ABC’S of sport (Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed) and fundamental basketball skill development, including:

    • Passing
    • Shooting
    • Ball Handling
    • Pivoting
    • Defense
    • Attack & Counter One on One Moves
    • Team Play

    Tri-City Youth Basketball Association is pleased to announce the return of its extremely popular Skill Development Performance Academy for Winter 2021. 

    These sessions are for players of all levels who want to develop and enhance their individual ability, focusing on:

    • Footwork
    • Shot Preparation
    • Shooting Mechanics
    • Ball Handling
    • Passing
    • Decision Making

    Interested players, especially those at the grade 5/6 level, do not need to have a great deal of experience to take part

    The most important factor in participating in the Academy program is to simply be dedicated to improvement and committed to attend the scheduled sessions.

    Tri-City Youth Basketball 2021 Summer Camps

    The Tri-City Youth Basketball Association will be hosting its Summer Basketball Camps, weekly from July 5 to August 27, 2021. 

    There will be no summer camps in 2020 because of gym unavailability.  

    Coach to Player Ratio – 1:8. These camps are 4 to 5 days in duration and are designed for players looking to develop and improve their athleticism and basketball skills. These camps focus on developing the basic ABC’s of sport (Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed) and fundamental basketball skill development, including shooting, ball handling, passing, pivoting, defense, attack & counter one on one moves, and team play.

    We welcome boys and girls from ages 10-17 years old of all skill levels to attend our Summer camp sessions.

    Head Coaches for TCYBA’s academy programs include Anthony Luyken and Joe Enevoldson. Anthony and Joe have both served as Canada Basketball / BBC Centre for Performance and Basketball BC Provincial Team coaches in the past. TCYBA Refund Policy


Fall / Winter 2020-21 season  

  •  Registration Opening to August 31 - Regular league fee less $30 administration fee   
  •  September 1 to 15 - 50% reimbursement of regular league fee  
  • After September 15 - NO REFUND

Please note that while the TCYBA has written contracts confirming access to the facilities that are used for association training sessions, practices and games, due to unforeseen or extraordinary circumstances the facility provider can withdraw access to those facilities with or without notice to the association. In those cases, replacement sessions may not be possible and refunds will not be provided.

*Parents/players may apply for a full refund of registration fees, citing extraordinary circumstances. Such requests must be made in writing to the Board of Directors by emailing the Executive Director. The Board will consider such requests on an individual basis.

 A full refund of regular registration fees will be provided where a player chooses to withdraw due to a change in practice time/location initiated by the league. Such refunds will not be assessed an administration fee. 

PLEASE NOTE – All registration transactions are subject to transaction and credit card processing fees charged by credit card companies and the vendors accepting payment using them. Transaction fees are collected and retained by those vendors for processing your registration and are not paid to or retained by the TCYBA and as such cannot be refunded by the TCYBA in situations that fall outside of the refund policies outlined above. In extraordinary situations where mass refunds must be issued by the TCYBA, a nominal administration fee may be applied to all refunds.

*GRADE 9/10 BOYS & GRADE 11/12 BOYS TEAMS WILL PLAY GAMES ON SATURDAYS. REFUNDS WILL NOT BE PROVIDED FOR SCHEDULE CONFLICTS WITH TCYBA GAMES.

SERVING TRI-CITY YOUTH SINCE 1999

The Tri-City Youth Basketball Association (TCYBA) was formed in 1999 and is a registered, volunteer-driven, not-for-profit that serves the youth of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody (Tri-Cities) and surrounding areas in British Columbia, Canada. Currently we have well over 2000 players, from Kindergarten to grade 12, playing in various divisions including both competetive and recreational play. Open to both boys and girls, the club operates out of school gyms across the Tri-City area and strives to ensure all youth that want to enjoy the sport have an opportunity to participate
