Elite Team Tryouts

Posted on: June 29, 2021

The Tri-City Youth Basketball Association is pleased to announce the tryout schedule for its U12, U13, and U14 Elite Division for Fall/Winter 2021/2022 Season:

Tryouts for the Girls & Boys U12, U13 & U14 Elite Division teams will begin on September 13.

TRYOUT INFORMATION

On the first night, please arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled start time to allow for check-in. This means 5:00pm if your start time is 5:30pm and 6:45pm, if you start time is 7:15 pm.

U12 Eligibility - Participants must turn 12 in 2021 (born 2010 or later) or entering grade 6

U13 Eligibility - Participants must turn 13 in 2021 (born 2009 or later) or entering grade 7

U14 Eligibility - Participants must turn 14 in 2021 (born 2008 or later) or entering grade 8

The Elite Division at TCYBA is suited to advanced level players who wish to further develop their basketball skills in a more competitive atmosphere and are willing to commit to more practice time and a higher level of competition. If your son or daughter is new to basketball, then the Elite tryouts are usually not the best place for them to start their basketball experience. While the emphasis will still be on fun, friendship and sportsmanship, there will be a greater focus on competition and expectations of commitment will be higher for players. While we encourage all young players to be multi-sport athletes and will NOT ask anyone to quit another sport to focus solely on basketball, the Elite Division does expect a commitment to the entire season and a willingness to make all practices and games.

The number of teams participating at each age/gender level will be determined after tryouts are complete and player assessments are complete. The number of teams will be determined by the number of players who are assessed as being Elite level players.

Participation Cost

The cost to participate is approximately $700 per player at the U12 & U13 levels and $750.00 at U14 level. Payment in full will be required upon selection to a team. All funds will be payable via credit card payment through our Stack Sports registration system. As a Not-for-Profit organization, the Tri-City Youth Basketball Association charges only what it anticipates the overall costs of the Elite program will be.

All selected participants will also be charged a $70.00 uniform fee. This amount partially subsidizes the cost of the uniform that all participants will receive and keep as their personal uniform.

***REFUND POLICY***

Due to advance monetary commitments for league and tournament play, no refunds will be given for Elite team players. The only exception will be for a verified medical reason and if that player’s spot can then be filled on the roster at a pro-rated amount by another player designated by the coach to be an Elite caliber player.

U13 Elite Division Commitment

U14 Elite Division Commitment

While the TCYBA has had its teams participate in the U.S. in the past, significant policy changes and COVID restrictions from US Customs and Border Protection and Canada Customs may impact the possibility of this occurring. Because of the uncertain nature of this evolving situation, we will continue to monitor developments as they happen and respond appropriately to confirm whether modifications to our travel schedule might be necessary.

Families who would prefer their child participate in games exclusively within Canada may choose to compete on one of TCYBA’s Elite B teams or register for a non-elite development team. These non-elite teams will have a full schedule of competition within the new Fall TCYBA Grade 7/8 competitive league or in our Development division.
