Zach Hamed

My coaching philosophy is centered on skill development, accountability, and building confident competitors. I believe fundamentals must be taught at a high level and reinforced daily through structure and repetition. I emphasize decision-making, and playing the game the right way. Effort and discipline are non-negotiable. Winning is a byproduct of preparation and culture. My goal is to create an environment where athletes are challenged, supported, and pushed to grow, not only as players, but as leaders who represent TCYBA with pride.

Why coach for Tri-City Youth Basketball Association?

Tri-City Youth Basketball has been part of my life since I was just seven years old. I grew up playing in this league all the way through graduation, and it played a major role in shaping who I am, both as a player and as a person. Now, serving as a coach and board member, it’s meaningful to give back to the same community that helped develop me. I understand firsthand the impact this program can have on young athletes. TCYBA isn’t just a league to me, it’s something I’ve grown up with, and I’m committed to helping the next generation experience that same growth, confidence, and opportunity.

The Tri-City Youth Basketball Association (TCYBA) was formed in 1999 and is a volunteer-driven registered not-for-profit that serves the youth of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody (Tri-Cities), New Westminster, Burnaby and surrounding areas in British Columbia, Canada. Currently, we have well over 2000 players, from Kindergarten to grade 12, playing in various divisions including both competitive Elite programs and recreational play. We offer academies, camps, official's development paths and coaching clinics in partnership with various local, provincial and national partners. Open to both boys and girls, the club operates out-of-school gyms across the Tri-City area and strives to ensure all youth that want to enjoy the sport have an opportunity to participate. We believe that youth sport is critical to a child's development and the opportunity to build skills for both the sport and for life should be available to all of our community's youth.
