NEW: Grade 6–7–8 Girls Development Division

To support retention and provide more opportunities for female athletes, we are piloting a new program format this spring.

What’s Changing?

Former Grade 6/7 girls development teams will now become:

Grade 6–7–8 Girls Development Teams

Why This Change?

Previously, Grade 8 girls only had the option to register for competitive teams. This change allows:

  • Grade 8 girls who are new to basketball

  • Grade 8 girls who prefer not to compete at a competitive level

…to participate in a development-focused division.

Practices & Games

  • One 1-hour weekly team practice

  • Friday games

  • Doubleheaders may be scheduled if required to ensure all teams play weekly

Coaching Opportunities

We are currently seeking volunteer coaches for this division.

If you are interested in coaching, please contact our Coach Coordinator.

Players may register on the waitlist at no cost. Families will be notified once a volunteer coach is secured.

TCYBA QUICK LINKS

tcyba logo

The Tri-City Youth Basketball Association (TCYBA) was formed in 1999 and is a volunteer-driven registered not-for-profit that serves the youth of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody (Tri-Cities), New Westminster, Burnaby and surrounding areas in British Columbia, Canada. Currently, we have well over 2000 players, from Kindergarten to grade 12, playing in various divisions including both competitive Elite programs and recreational play. We offer academies, camps, official's development paths and coaching clinics in partnership with various local, provincial and national partners. Open to both boys and girls, the club operates out-of-school gyms across the Tri-City area and strives to ensure all youth that want to enjoy the sport have an opportunity to participate. We believe that youth sport is critical to a child's development and the opportunity to build skills for both the sport and for life should be available to all of our community's youth.
